A friend mentioned a while back that he had an 8-track player in his garage but no 8-tracks. Being me, of course I knew where to get some.
We used to have a massive console, or entertainment unit, in our rec room growing up. It housed an 8-track player, a record player, and a radio. It is still in working order and currently sitting in my grandmother’s basement. (Click here for a picture on a post by Tom Purcell.)
For some of you this picture will mean nothing at all. You may recognize the artists and know the songs, but likely have never seen, let alone heard, an 8-track. Although technology has evolved leaps and bounds over the years, and sound quality has vastly improved, not ever experiencing the wonder that was the 8-track may be the most sinful thing about it.
Oh yes I am of an age where I can remember! Brilliant!!

I don’t know if I have ever heard an 8 track, but I do know those artists 🙂

Yes, recognise the artists for sure….I love taking the odd trip down memory lane too 🙂

I have never even heard of an 8 track let alone seen one…. and having just popped to wiki and checked it would appear that these never really made it to Europe!

I might be only 24 and in Europe, but I definitely heard of 8 tracks! Love them, they are awesome!
I know what they are and it’s amazing to see them like that! Great idea for a Sinful Sunday post.
That is awesome I have not seen these in years. Yours look like they are in great condition as well. Keep them around someone may want them.
Aahh, those were the days 🙂
My parents STILL have an 8-track on their stereo system, though we haven’t tried to play the tapes in years…
